Core Grants

Building upon our Spring 2022 Artist Choice campaign and the historical giving of Ruth DeYoung Kohler II, the Fall 2022 core grant program is shaped by three organizing categories: how artists live, make, and are remembered.

These organizations recognize the beautifully uncommon qualities of their locations, and have thoughtfully designed their programming to build connections. Although grounded in the specifics of a place, they share broader affinities in their purpose and in the field at large, as well as a clear opportunity for knowledge sharing with others. Their senses of experimentation and innovation are naturally tethered to their sense of community. They understand the value of their location and strive to share it with others. As a result, these organizations naturally exude a sense of connectivity, hospitality, abundance, and joy in all of their work.
